These kits can take a lot of the guesswork out of sourcing good materials as they usually include everything from the trusses, to wall braces, to roofing. However, any time you are buying log home materials, it is best if you examine the kit a bit closer. Have the materials been properly cured and treated by the supplier? 

Take a look at how the different materials are cured and treated by the supplier before they are shipped out to customers because this is something that you will want to know as a buyer. For example, if you pick up a bundle of logs that will make up the main structure of the house, you will want to know that those logs have been properly cured, dried, and treated so they do not warp or start to deteriorate after you have them in place in your new home. 

Do the materials come with any guarantees or warranties?

The materials you are buying are going to eventually be used to build your new home, so it is important that you know that the materials are guaranteed to be free of defects once you get them. Most log home material suppliers do offer guarantees of quality upon delivery; if you have anything not up to par you can simply request a replacement. However, you will also find that some suppliers offer extensive warranties against defects as well that can last for several years. 

How long will it take for your materials to be delivered?

This can seem like an obvious thing to ask, but some buyers assume that when they place an order for a log home kit or for a material collection that they will get their order soon after. However, there can be drastic differences between delivery times depending on what supplier you are working with. Some suppliers will require several weeks to get your materials prepared, while there may be some that can get your order out within a few days.
